Find Your Feminine Groove~ A Dance Workshop

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

THURSDAY, June 24th 6:30-8:30pm

Let’s face it, today, more than ever before, women are playing multiple roles in every area of their life. We speak the languages of mother, spouse, bread-winner, caregiver, executive, entrepreneur, etc. And yet, much of the time, we are living our lives based on definitions that others have created – and when we do this, quite often there is a disconnect between our mind, our body and our spirit. When we disconnect from ourselves in such a way, it affects our attitude, our confidence and our femininity.

It’s time to get out of your head, and into your body! Find YOUR Feminine Groove – increase your awareness, be inspired and ignite your confidence simply by being in your own skin.

Please note:This is a dance workshop that is designed for the novice and experienced alike.

This workshop will discuss and explore:
-the roles that women play
-how to reintegrate the disconnect between your mind, body and spirit
-& remind you of the power of your femininity.
(Not to mention, we will be rockin’ out to some groovy tunes – be ready to move your hips, stretch your comfort zone and shake yo’ thang.)
What to Wear: Comfy clothes. Yoga/Gym’ish attire. We will do a great deal barefoot, although you may want to bring a pair of soft-soled shoes you can move it. Tennis shoes are fine.
Cost: $25 with Pre-Registration $35 at the Door.
Your Instructor: Jenn Kaye is an international speaker, coach and facilitator with a passion for dance and movement. In this unique program she combines her expertise in facilitation, dance, bodywork and communication to help teach you how to move in confidence and femininity in your everyday life – and how to be more comfortable in your own skin.

How can CranioSacral Therapy Heal You?

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is just one of the modalities that I am passionate about doing with my clients. It can be used for a one hour treatment or is a great complement to a massage session. CST was invented or fine tuned to become a worldwide therapeutic therapy from 1975 to 1983 by Dr. John Upledger at the University of Michigan. The Upledger Institute states that “CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord”.

Your heart and your spine have their own unique rhythm. In a cranioscaral session, I assist your body to get back on track with it’s natural rhythm, which results in a very relaxing experience.

MY MOST MEMORABLE CRANIOSACRAL HEALING EXPERIENCE …..

A female client who was receiving medical treatments for pancreatic cancer, came in for a massage session for the purpose of general relaxation.  During the session I used a method of Craniosacral therapy called ‘direction of energy’ where you focus primarily on one part of the body (in this case I focused on her pancreas).  At the end of the session, the woman rose from the table in tears stating that this was the most relaxed her body had felt in several months.

The Upledger Institute states that CST works “by complementing the body’s natural healing processes. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:

  • Migraine Headaches
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Orthopedic Problems
  • Scoliosis
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Emotional Difficulties
  • Stress and Tension-Related Problems
  • Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
  • Neurovascular or Immune Disorders”

I am currently running an introductory Massage Special. For just $39 you can come in and experience the awesome relaxing and healing power of a Craniosacral therapy session. Each time I see a client I asses their unique needs and create a massage session tailored to what their body needs at that moment. Come and see, your body will thank you. Make an appointment today.

The Beauty Clock: Keep it Ticking Strong

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

“The Beauty Clock is ticking…..believe it or not “time” is not your skin’s greatest enemy.

The following processes give a tremendous push to the aging process:

*Sun exposure, Cigarette smoke (inhaled or secondhand), Environmental toxins

*A nutrition-poor diet, especially one lacking in vitamins A, C, E, and folic acid yet high in fat and salt

*Excess alcohol consumption, Stress, Harsh soaps or detergent based moisturizers and Sleep deprivation

But take note that even if you never leave your home without sunblock or never inhale cigarette smoke you skin will follow the following process:

*Dryness: The skin’s oil glands reduce their production greatly after the age of 30, and the loss continues over the years.

*Sun damage/loss of skin tone: Melanocytes begin to burn out when you reach your late thirties and forties, reducing the skin’s ability to fight sun damage and often causing uneven pigmentation.

*Thinning: About age 40, the dermis and the skin’s fat layer begin to thin. The process picks up steam after 50. Sadly this results in sagging and the loss of the plump, youthful softness of the skin. The loss of the fat layer also makes the skin more fragile and likely to abrade.

*Loss of firmness: In the dermis, cells called fibroblasts constantly replenish our skin’s supply of collagen and elastin.

*Reduced ability to repair damage: The body loses its ability to repair free-radical damage, so changes in the cells become more pronounced, accelerating the aging process.

*Loss of Temperature Control: Sweat glands also loose their ability to function, which makes it harder for your body to regulate itself and register heat and cold.

Wrinkled, sagging skin is “not” the inevitable result of growing older. With the proper skin care program you can look your best, feel your best and enjoy beautiful skin at any age.”
