Kundalini Yoga and How it can Help You ?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Starting June 2nd, 2010, weekly Kundalini Yoga classes will begin at KaiZen on Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:30pm. Read on to find out more about this branch of Yogic Practice and how it is a great compliment to creating more wellness in your life.

Kundalini Yoga is the Yoga of Awareness. Yoga is not a religion, but instead a science of self-development and self-awareness that works to balance the connection between the body, mind, and spirit into a cohesive union.  Yoga has been found to bring increased functioning to the all systems of the body: circulatory, lymphatic, nervous, respiratory, endocrine, muscular-skeletal, digestive and immune.

“It’s like flying a kite inside your own mind!”, remarked an eleven year describing his experiences with Kundalini Yoga.  The human mind is always active. The  product of a millennium of evolution, the mind is always alert.  Will we allow our mind chatter to remind us of all of the possibility, fun, and potential of our life, or  will we allow the mind to play a tape of worry, trouble, stress, and resentment? What you focus on from your mind-speak is conscious or unconscious choice.

Kundalini Yoga helps to increase the awareness of what thoughts  one chooses to focus on and how to use the mind to serve your highest needs, instead of debilitating limiting thought patterns. Each class ends with a meditation, which helps to quiet the mind and bring about a particular effect (there are over 5,000 yoga sets and meditations–all which enliven and empower you to be a more limitless individual).

Kundalini Yoga combines the use of breath work (pranayam), a series of specifically coordinated simple body movements/postures (kriya), hand positions (mudras), and meditation.  Every Kundalini Yoga Class is open to all levels. You do not have to be especially flexible to attend a Kundalini Yoga class as many of the exercises are very simple body movements people of all ages can accomplish easily.

Come try a Kundalini Yoga Class and Experience its benefits yourself.

Beginners Welcome and encouraged to attend.
